A Brief introduction of the Speaker

Huo Liu completed his undergraduate studies at South China Normal University and obtained his master's and doctoral degrees from Ruhr University Bochum in Germany. During his Ph.D., he studied under Professor Ingo Steinbach, a renowned expert in the field of phase-field methods, and was awarded a scholarship from the Surmat project of the Max Planck Institute for Iron Research in Germany. His primary research focus was on modeling in micromagnetics and phase-field methods.


Abstract

The functional properties of sintered magnets depend critically on their microstructure. Investigating the microstructure evolution during sintering or heat treatment helps us to improve the magnetic performance. However, solving the coupling between the structural and magnetic degrees of freedom on the micrometer scale is not possible with most of the current simulation packages. Therefore.we implemented the equations needed to treat both degrees of freedom in the framework of the multi.phase field model. We verified our implementation using a magnetic vortex example. Then we applied our model to the field-assisted grain growth in Sm2Co17 polycrystal films to investigate the impact of the magnetic energy on grain growth and magnetic performance. Our model provides a solution for the microstructure evolution in ferromagnetic polycrystals.
